Exhibition "Infinitely India" highlights Glory of Kapurthala’s Heritage at Albert Kahn Museum, Paris FranceAuto chromes
and films reveal the symbolic opposition between the two princely states of
Punjab and Rajasthan. On the one
hand, enlightened and Francophile, maharajah of Kapurthala, on the other

photographs displayed show the marvelous grandeur of the Kapurthala dynasty
including the Maharaja on a city tour sitting on an elephant, the Maharaja
sitting with the Viceroy in the Kapurthala Palace, family functions of the
Maharaja and famous buildings of Kapurthala including Nihal Palace, Moorish
Mosque etc. One of the photographs displayed in the exhibition depicts the ceremony of ‘Tula Daan', in which the king can be seen donating gold equivalent to his weight on his 50th birth anniversary celebration.
The
exhibition has drawn a lot of appreciation by many royal visitors of France as
well as representatives of the royal family of Kapurthala. A one-hour video showing the history of Kapurthala and other beautiful scenes of India from 1913-27 is also being shown in the exhibition. Curator Sophie Couetoux's Experience on Exhibition: It was really exciting to choose the images to be presented in the exhibition, according to their aesthetic but also historic interest. After the images were selected and sometimes associated together, depending on their possible analogies, we had to think about their distribution in the exhibition gallery.
