Lohri too is a
festival related to the seasons. Celebrated in the month of Pausa
(December-January), it marks the end of the winter season. On this
occasion, children go from home to home, singing popular Lohri
folk songs and collect money. Lohri is celebrated; it is marked by
merrymaking around a bonfire, as a symbol of sun. Fistfuls of
nuts, popcorn and pieces of sugarcane find their way into the
fire, as an offering to the Sun God. This is a special day for
making offerings to fire. The first Lohri for a new bride, or a
new-born babe, is enthusiastically celebrated, and sweets are
distributed. Lohri was celebrated with Full funfare in January.
Sky was full of kites. Have a glimpse of festivity pictures
this year.
